Why you shouldn’t wait for a Monday to start!

I am sick and tired of hearing people say ‘Oh I will start on Monday’, or ‘There is no point in starting now as I am going out for a meal this weekend, so I will start next Monday’.

It blows my mind that even now a days there are people who still think like this. This is also the main reason most people fail, because when you say start on Monday it is as if you are demonising whatever it is you are going to do before the Monday, for example the meal you are going out for or the night out you are having.

When in actual fact if you learn to incorporate these events/social occasions into your health and fitness goals you will see that you can still enjoy all of these things whilst progressing towards your goals/making yourself fitter and healthier. The tough part about this method is that you will actually have to take accountability for your actions, if you want to go out drinking all night you have options. They could be to drink a glass of water in between each alcoholic drink to reduce the empty calories you are having as well as reduce the severity of your hangover, or you can go balls to the wall and keep smashing them shots back and sugar filled cocktails that are only going to make you feel even more shit the next day. Especially when you check your bank account.

Going out for a meal? Do you need to have 3 or more courses? You wouldn’t do it at home on an average day. However coming from a pudding lover like myself, because I am going to have 3 courses I will take accountability for this and reduce the calories I have through the day before the meal and maybe even reduce the next day slightly, so that by the end of the week my calories are in line with my goal as I have been able to average them out.

As soon as you say I will start on Monday, you have given yourself an excuse for the future. Whatever the reason is that you can’t start right now is going to be there again in the future. It will also allow you to use it as an excuse again and again and again, this will leave you back at square one every single time.

The overall point I am trying to make here is don’t wait for the perfect time to start, as it will never come. The best time to start is right now, it isn’t neccesarily easy. You will have to take accountability for your actions and be responsible for what you do day to day with your life. But with some consistency I guarantee you will begin to see results, the results become infectious and before you know it you are on a roll.

Still enjoying your social life, still getting closer to your health and fitness results and you will overall just feel better. Don’t waste any more time, GET STARTED NOW!
